Tech N9ne Arrested for Vandalism

Posted by on Jun 25, 2010 in War 42 | 0 comments

Missouri-based rapper Tech N9ne took live tweeting to a new level yesterday, updating his Twitter page as he was arrested for vandalism. The rapper, born Aaron Yates, was nabbed for an outstanding warrant for illegally posting banners in Blue Springs, MO, going so far as to snap a picture of the arresting officer as he was hauled off in a police car.

‘I’m getting arrested’, he tweeted from his BlackBerry. Soon after, he posted a TwitPic from his business partner Travis O’Guin’s phone, tweeting, ‘From travs phone! They let me keep my phone but I only got one hand free.’ He wrapped up his live updates with one last message, writing, ‘I gotta go, they making me take off my shoes and belt.’

Tech N9ne ended up spending part of Wednesday in jail after the incident took place. He was originally stopped after testing O’Guin’s Ferrari F430, launching the car from 0 to 70 mph in three seconds, prompting a Lee’s Summit officer to pull him over. After the policeman ran his info, Tech N9ne was arrested, spending 22 minutes in jail before posting a $300 bond. O’Guin explained that both he and Tech were unaware of the warrant, claiming that fans most likely hung the posters and that they weren’t in Blue Springs when the charges were filed. The pair plans on going to court today to clean up the mess.

The rapper is currently gearing up to release his eleventh studio album ‘The Gates Mixed Plate’, the third in his ‘Collabos’ series following 2009′s ‘Sickology 101′. The album, which features guest appearances from Kutt Calhoun, Brotha Lynch Hung, Devin the Dude, Jay Rock, Glasses Malone and more, is slated for release July 27.

Revok Arrest Trying To Leave Australia

***VANDAL VACATION*** from WWW.REVOK1.COM on Vimeo.

Graffiti writer Revok was recently arrested in Melbourne for a streak of vandalism in the city, all tracked by his twitter updates. The news video above offers insight into the arrest with comical commentary by the Seventh Letter Crew member.

Article from: Australian Associated Press

AN American who graffitied Melbourne buildings and posted pictures of his work on his webpage has been handed a suspended jail sentence.

Jason Steven Williams, known by his tag Revok promised on his Twitter page to “paint as much as I can” while in Melbourne.

During his two-week spree Williams tagged several inner Melbourne buildings, including St Vincent’s Hospital, the Melbourne Magistrates Court heard.

He also sprayed a train and train overpasses.

Williams’ decision to post the graffiti on his website and Twitter page proved to be his downfall.

Police seized his camera, mobile phone and laptop when they arrested him at Melbourne Airport as he tried to go home to the United States.

He spent last night and much of today in custody.

In court later, Williams, 32, of Los Angeles, pleaded guilty to nine counts of criminal damage.

The court heard Williams came to Australia on October 13 to participate in a legal graffiti event that was cancelled because the promoter encountered financial troubles.

Following the cancellation he wrote: “F*** this shit. I am going to paint as much as I can and then get the f*** out of here.”

As he left the Melbourne Custody Centre, Williams said he was sorry for what he had done.

“I feel very remorseful, very remorseful,” he said.

Asked if he knew what he was doing was illegal he replied: “Shit happens, what are you going to do?”

“I just do what I do. I came here, I did some stuff, maybe I did some things I shouldn’t have done, I apologise,” he said.

Williams said it would not be wise for him to comment on whether he thought he had improved Melbourne.

Magistrate Ian von Einem was told Williams had no prior convictions.

Sentencing Williams, Mr von Einem said he had done a disservice to those pushing for greater acceptance of graffiti’s legitimacy.

The court was told Williams had legitimate exhibitions coming up in Los Angeles and Miami.

Mr von Einem sentenced Williams to nine months prison, wholly suspended for two years.

He also ordered Williams pay $15,340 in damages.

Leaving court, Williams joked that the currency exchange wasn’t good and he couldn’t have picked a worse time to have to pay a fine.

Pittsburgh – 2nd most-wanted graffiti artist held after lengthy probe

One night in May 2008, police said, they spotted Ian Debeer spraying his indelible moniker, ?HERT,? on a bridge support in Etna.

His arrest prompted Pittsburgh detectives to search his Mount Washington home where, they said, they found 500 cans of costly, high-end spray-paint, 300 photographs of graffiti, and videos of Mr. Debeer leaving his mark.

Despite the raid, police said, Mr. Debeer continued tagging while detectives built their case against him, until his arrest yesterday on four felony and 69 misdemeanor counts of criminal mischief for graffiti that, police said, caused $212,100 in damage to city and private property.

Officers arrested Mr. Debeer, 21, after a morning court appearance for his arrest last year in Etna.

?He thought we forgot all about him,? said Detective Daniel Sullivan, who filed a 33-page criminal complaint against Mr. Debeer that lists 100 locations where ?HERT? had been sprayed.

Police said his spree of painting colorful, bubbly ?graffiti murals? started in April 2007 and offers glimpses into a lively underworld of graffiti vandalism that has made Pittsburgh what one detective called ?the heart of graffiti nation.?

Mr. Debeer was so prolific that the Graffiti Task Force named him No. 2 on its list of ?10 Most Wanted Graffiti Vandals.? No. 1 was Daniel Montano, a Highland Park graffitist who was sentenced last year to 21/2 to 5 years in state prison after pleading guilty to 79 counts of criminal vandalism.

Mr. Montano and Mr. Debeer belonged to ?Not Strictly Freights,? a prominent ?graffiti crew,? Detective Sullivan said. Police also found a letter from the convicted graffitist in Mr. Debeer?s house, the complaint says.

Mr. Debeer split his time between Mount Washington and his birthplace of Buffalo, N.Y., where, Detective Sullivan said, he told police in 2004 that he was responsible for ?HERT? graffiti.

?That?s my tag,? Mr. Debeer told a Buffalo police officer, according to the complaint. ?The name I picked.?

Mr. Debeer?s murals also occasionally bore the letters ?BF,? for Buffalo?s Finest, the complaint says.

Police aren?t sure what he does for a living or how he was able to afford the $3,000 worth of spray paint they discovered in June 2008 in his house, where he also kept detailed records of his graffiti activity in sketchbooks and computer files, they said.

Police also found hundreds of photos of graffiti, 165 of which they matched to locations Downtown, in the Strip District, the North Side, the South Side, the West End, Bloomfield, Friendship, East Liberty, Uptown and Oakland. Task force detectives spent months canvassing neighborhoods to match the photos to their locations.

The complaint says Mr. Debeer caused $65,800 in damage to city property; $18,900 in damage to railroad property; and $127,400 in damage to private property.

His arrest underscores a police push to eradicate graffiti in a city where there are at least 25 graffiti crews and 650 individual vandals, Detective Sullivan said. But it might not have the desired effect.

?The graffiti community believes now that the city of Pittsburgh is cracking down on graffiti and even more of them are coming to the city,? he said. ?They get street credibility.?

DMX just can’t stay out of trouble

Posted by on Jul 20, 2008 in War 42 | 0 comments

DMX has been arrested and slapped with a felony charge of taking the identity of another at a Phoenix mall.

The rapper was arrested (July 19) in a Phoenix mall, due to an alleged incident at the Scottsdale Mayo clinic in April where the rapper was being treated for an illness.

While there, he allegedly used an alias, ?Troy Jones,? and defaulted on a $7,500 bill.

DMX, real name Earl Simmons, was booked at the Maricopa County jail.

The arrest marks X?s fourth bust in two months, on charges that range from alleged illicit drug use to numerous motor vehicle violations.

On July 2, police arrested the rapper earlier this month at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport.

On June 27, he was arrested in Miami for allegedly attempting to purchase cocaine and marijuana.

And on June 23, DMX was arrested in Miami for not having a valid driver?s license.

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio feels that the rapper, real name Earl Simmons, has had more than enough opportunities to reform and deserves stiffer punishment.

?He?s back in jail again,? Arpaio told the Associated Press. ?I don?t know why judges keep letting this guy out. Every time he goes in there, he gets out on bond. I?m hoping this is the one time he?s going to pay the penalty for his offense.?

Because of X?s celebrity status, Arpaio confirmed that the Yonkers native would be held in protective custody.

?They [inmates] may not like his music,? he quipped. At press time, a bond has not been given in DMX?s case, and his lawyer Cameron Morgan has declined to comment.
